2010-06-18_2 Hours after the Storm

Just past 5:00 pm on Friday, June 18, 2010 a strong storm hit Chicago and blew the roof off our building.  The following pictures were taken within 2 hours after the storm.

Bricks and caps pulled off the top of the wall by waterproof membrane. Wind displaced waterproof membrane by about 35' to 45'.

Air conditioning condensing units were blown off wood bases. Displaced roof membrane. PVC vents.

Gutter normally hangs off rear wall of building was blown all the way to the front of the building with roof membrane still attached.

Hole in SE corner of roof above unit 3E.

Bricks and caps displaced by wind on east parapet wall.

Top of rear wall lying in middle of roof atop roof board next to waterproof roof membrane.

Hole in SW corner of roof above unit 3W.

Damaged wall and roof SW corner above unit 3W.

Damaged parapet along west wall, parapet caps on roof.

Waterproof membrane on west side of building bunched up in the front of building. The membrane was originally hanging over the front of the building. Firefighters put membrane back on top of roof.
